I could handle my life just fine...if it didn't revolve around the opposite sex...

Right now
There is a heavy set, attractive, black female, and an older country white man in plaid and jeans making small talk in the back of an emptying bar.
Where does this lead? A real reporter would follow...

The American Dream
I have a Dream. Not sure just how American it is though. In fact I can't really get behind much this country, as a sovereign nation, has accomplished. The details of my dissolution I will keep to myself in respect to your time. Still that leaves me with a question. How am I to accomplish my Dream, seeing that it in no way lines up with the one I am being sold daily. It is the same one we are all being sold, slavery, painted to look like freedom, in the form of money!
It is a tricky maze they have concocted, or to be more precise, perfected. In fact, if anything, that is the American Dream. A labyrinth of lies and deceit constructed over hundreds of years in order to propagate the pursuit of power. Power, all of which we, the masses, produce yet never attain. I can see clearly the mechanics, the elegant pattern stitched to produce such a pleasant back drop. Even still, once you lift the curtain and sneak behind, that world too is just a meaningless replications of what we are taught to see.
So, how do you escape? Every exit but an entrance, leading right back to whence you came. Money, the American Dream, a sham. A rouse.
When I was growing up my grandfather owned an autoparts store in Rose City. He sold car parts from a building he leased with a business license he bought from a city he paid taxes to for every transaction he could hustle himself into making. In this store, owned by someone other than my grandfather, who was most likely paying a bank priciple AND interest monthly for the right to claim that title, my grandfather had clued a quarter to the ground. Customers, aiming to fix a car they most likely didn't ACTUALLY own, would walk into the store and see the quarter beckoning to them from it'ssecure location on the ground. Who doesn't like easy money? Who wouldn't bend down to scoop up a quarter, which thirty years ago may actually buy you a burger? That was a meal just lying there, defenslessly, waiting to be gobbled up. Everybody gets hungry sometime.
We are told to respect our elders and there is good reason for this. The longer you play a game the better you get at it. Harold, my grandfather, knew the rules. They were what held him in place, like glue would secure a quater to the floor.
America, you can keep your dream...and your quarters.

Sunrise
I want to grow a tree
Strong and tall
Shelter
For the coming fall
Though soil to seed
Is hard to find
Free of filth
And man's grime
My life I give
To search this earth
To find a place
To rest my worth
Patience pending
I move along
Fleeting heart
Pretending strong
Though weak and weary
It's beat may be
The love it carries
Keeps me free
Strong and tall
Shelter
For the coming fall
Though soil to seed
Is hard to find
Free of filth
And man's grime
My life I give
To search this earth
To find a place
To rest my worth
Patience pending
I move along
Fleeting heart
Pretending strong
Though weak and weary
It's beat may be
The love it carries
Keeps me free

The Other Side
I recognize the healthy hue of neighboring pastures. The world, by in large, is a gorgeous place. Though non more so than that beneath my feet. For this is the only soil bearing my dominion. Therefor it has been under my care that the grass here has achieved it's sheen. Foul or fragrant, how could any other serve me better? Being that that too would come to it's health or hinderance by my hand. I long only to enrich a plot which is mine, rather than covet that which is not.

Fair Weather
I am now, and have been for over a decade, a Laker fan. Through good or bad I have been behind my team. The way they closed out this season, however, has left me just as appalled as everyone else. The Mav's played with heart and determination and deserve this trip to the conference finals. The Lakers, with a few exceptions, played like spoiled children. Who, when they weren't just given a championship, threw a temper tantrum for the world to see. And for which deserve an ass whipping, besides the one they got on the court.
Time to break apart the machine, see what exactly is broken, rebuild, and get back in the race. Let's go Lakers!!

Champion
We are ALL headed the same place, death. Is that such an exciting prospect that we should race to see who gets there first?.

Prequel
Camping come early. Tonight I think I will sleep out under the stars atop my most recent edition.
Awkward
Super hot Latin girl with a perfect smile and big eyes comes up to me, chomping at the bit. As I was just heading home this fortune seems to have smiled on me....until she tells me her boyfriend is the dude taking pictures of us.
She then will not let go of my hand or cease conversation. Dude, just patiently standing there taking orders to do so.
Under any other circumstance...

Riverfront
I sit here peiring, from the removed seat of the van, now sitting on Enjoy's loading dock, into the open back window of a 96' VW Passat, beat apart and down trodden.
What could someone possibly take from me less my heart, which would see me dead before a passing deed?
Good luck in achieving conquest here. There is little to own but a driving lust for life.
Best to join it's fury rather than fight the flame.
To challenge would leave a world in ash.

Lent
Forty days without initiating female contact via phone, facebook, flirting, or anything besides acknowledging women I already know. The idea is to remove the distraction of hunting down sex. Enjoy needs to be my focus. If I am gonna drink it should be done with the intention of relaxing with friends. I sure hope to run across some aggressive ladies...

Gratitude
It isn't often that I look back at my past. I am much too busy racing toward the future. Though when I do pause in the present, joy overwhelms me. I love my life, for the people who have kept it a full and rich place to live.
Thank you

Sojourn
Thinking back I must have bought this house in 2007. Coming up on four years now. Random gust of wind swept me up, spun me around and in it's fading fury breezed me right on back to where I began. Arkansas, the soil generous, fertile, and warm gave way, effortlessly welcoming my world worn roots.

Drama fo yo Mama
I am gonna start tweeting broad sweeping accusations directed directly at no one....just to see what comes of it. I can't see why I should be left out of all the online drama that people are participating in these days. Since I really don't want to share any real issues I will manufacture some. Reality TV does it constantly. Silliness is fun.

Man's World?
Men are very basic creatures. We need food and sex. Shelter is nice but if we can have sex without, it comes in a distant third. Even the best food we hunt down would easily be traded for the worst sex. That puts pleasing our penises pretty high in our priorities. In a civilized society (though fading fast, is currently where we reside) women control the honey hole. Some of them can even prepare food. Now, I ain't no math genius but you tell me who is running the show.

Phil Jackson
Gonna sideline the magic dragon for a hot one and see how the team does without him. It will be hard at first seeing as we have grown to depend so heavily on his fire. Though we were in this game long before he got drafted. So I think we are gonna make the necessary adjustments and will be stronger for it. Ole Puff is a bad bad man but his presence seems to make the rest of the team a bit complacent. We are gonna need all hands sharp and steady to make it to the play-offs and they are close at hand.

Weed that taste like blueberries?! Now I am gonna wanna get stoned every time I get a sweet tooth....from getting stoned....
Rebirth
Most of my new years resolutions have not panned out. Instead of losing the baby in the bath water, I have decide to offer that inner child another chance to breathe. And on what better occasion than a birthday to trust myself to a new Life. A clean life.
First, in order to be reborn, I must first straighten up the mess the first 35 year have produced. No time like the present. After all it has become painfully obvious, I ain't getting any younger.

Funny
I would normally just erase the number and move on. This time I had the misfortune of memorizing the number. May actually have to momentarily step into adulthood and restrain myself. Let's hope this works....

Birthday Bucketlist
I have never done this before and it may not be a good idea to do it now but if I am already writing this then it is a bit late to turn back now. Besides how often does a birthday fall on a Friday?! I am sure there is a mathematical answer to that though it was meant to be rhetorical. If in fact I were looking for a reply it would be this, "Your are half way from 30 to 40 today with a whole bright sunny weekend ahead of you. Make the best of it. Self indulgence is only bad as a lifestyle choice. GO FOR IT!". To that I say, "Who is that goat legged fellow cooing so temptingly into my ear?". I really like the cut of his jib. With that assessment the shoulder devil and I bid farewell to the white robed halo glad chap who previously purched so proudly in opposition and set sail on the rapid waters of uncertainty. Wild times await, TALLY HO!!

The Angel Ruth
Last night I slept, and I slept well.
Into the dark I blindly fell.
A dream was there to break my fall.
And angel eyes to watch over all.
There were no words, she did not speak.
Though her loving smile, still left me weak.
A beautiful presence carried me to the dawn
Now, awake, the sun is up, and she is gone
I pray. Lord I pray for the dream to come again
Restlessly, I count the moments,
From now till then.
